The community of Llachon is located in a very
scenic part of the Lake, in the peninsula of Capachica, which
separates the Bay of Puno (or shallow section of the Lake) from
the main Lake, or Lago Mayor; its scenery, beaches, typical
accommodation and kindness of its families, allow for a
comfortable stay. From the peak of the Inka Carus ceremonial
grounds, one can admire the small archipelago where is located
the Ticonata island with its rustic houses and its friendly
people.
Llachón is a community of skillful and fine weavers and artisans,
at the border of the lake, which offers the possibility of
sharing the day to day work with visitors.
You will be picked up from your accommodation at 7:00 a.m., to

Titikaka lake. Fishermen and hunters inhabit the floating
islands of the Uros. The residents of the Uros are known as the
“water tribe”, because they must construct its own Islands
periodically, adding new layers of totora reeds, which grows in
the lake, to create the conditions that ensure the islands stay
afloat. The dense roots that the plants develop support the
island. The roofs are waterproof and the houses are extremely
humid because of the surrounding water.
They used it as home and trade centers for the natives, who use
hand-made boats of the same material as their means of
transportation. At present, they speak Quechua and Aymara.
