The Festivity of the Virgen of theCandelaria is celebrated
every year from the8th until the 15thof February in the city of Puno located
at 30 minutes in airplane from Cuzco to Juliaca. This is a celebration of
religious origin with many dances where the dancers wear multi colored masks
and folk customs.The most famous dance is “The Diablada.”
The INTI Raymi festival of the winter solstice is the most
important celebration in Cuzco.Every year the 24th of June the ancient Inca
celebration is revived in worshiping the Sun. The dancers wear traditional
costumes of those times and at the end of this Ritual the Inca will kill a
Llama using a knife to offer the Heart to the Sun God. The celebration will
continue throughout the week.
June and July are the best months to visit the city of
Cuzco, because there are many festivals with traditional dances such as; The
Corpus Christi, The INTI Raymi, The Virgen of Carmen from the 15th to the
17th of July with the exhibition of allegorical Masks in particular in the
town of Paucarpata that is about 250 km. from the city of Cuzco and that is
not all you will be able to see but much much more……..
