AMAZON RIVER TOURS
The
Amazon rainforest constitutes over half of the
planet’s remaining rainforest. The Amazon river is the
life force of the forest, rising in the Peruvian Andes
and winding its way east over the northern half of South
America until reaching the Atlantic Ocean. The Amazon
carries the highest volume of water into the ocean than
the top ten largest rivers flowing into the ocean
combined. Recent studies claims that the Amazon is
actually longer than the Nile using Mount Mismi in
Arequipa, which was labeled by the National Geographic
Society as the Amazon´s source, these scientist have
made new calculations of the Amazon length and estimates
that is 65 miles longer than the Nile.
Experience an ideal combination: natural wonders and
native cultural history. Our pioneering approach to
local communities has taken us to interact with the
villagers who live within the Pacaya-Samiria National
Reserve, helping them to develop and promote a balance
between their needs and those of the wildlife with which
they share habitat and ecosystems.
The Amazon Basin includes a diversity of traditional
inhabitants as well as biodiversity in both flora and
fauna. These people have lived in the rain forest for
thousands of years and their life styles and cultures
are well adapted to this environment.
Contrary to popular belief, their subsistence living
methods do not significantly harm the environment. Their
work day is mostly occupied by subsistence activities
like fishing, small-scale agriculture, gathering and
hunting. Their survival depends on their intimate
relationship with the natural environment.
