Botanical Lodge, An ecological enclave
located 80 kilometres away from the city of Iquitos, on the edge of the
majestic Amazon River, in deep primary jungle – an ideal location for
taking hikes to see the local flora and fauna. Our botanical garden has
a huge number of tremendous trees, notably the giant Lupuna or Ceiba, it
also has a number of medicinal plants such as the ‘Sangre de Grado’ –
‘Clavo Huasca’ – ‘Oje’ – ‘Chuchuhuasi’ – ‘Ajos Sacha’ and ‘Uña de Gato’
amongst others, also the hallucinogenic ‘Ayahuasca’. This stunning
environment is complemented by our comfortable set of private bungalows
with en suite, protected from insects and with a relaxing hammock area
perfect for reading. With artificial lighting from 17.30 to 22.00 hours,
the visitor will enjoy a wonderfully comfortable environment that will
make for a greatly enjoyable stay.
Our bilingual guides are experts in the mysteries of the forest and
their personal touch will make your visit to the Amazon Rainforest an
unforgettable experience. The food is regional and varied, we can offer
vegetarian options if necessary (please do let us know). |

FIRST DAY: Iquitos- Medicine Plants- Night excursion.
A
tour around downtown the city to get to know the most
significant landmarks, some of which are from the rubber boom (subject
to arrival time)
Transfer to the lodge by boat down the Amazon. Floating houses.
During the transfer we will note various different communities
on the banks of the Amazon. Arriving to the lodge we will be
welcomed with a local drink and will find our rooms. Four nights
in the Amazon Botanical Lodge with full board. Take the
‘medicinal plant’ walk and get to know ‘uña de gato’, ‘sangre de
grado’ and ‘clavo huasca’ amongst others. Enjoy spectacular
views of the Amazon from a well placed viewpoint and finish the
day with a night walk to see tarantulas, insects. Night at
Botanical Lodge.
SECOND DAY: Botanical-Jungle walk-Trapiche
See
the local birds in their natural habitat (by canoe from November
to July or walking from July to November). Take a walk deep into
the jungle to find the giant trees – including the voluptuous
and impressive Ceiba-Lupuna. Take in the local flora and fauna.
Tour down the Amazon River and visit to craft Trapiche,
demonstration and participation of tourists in the extraction of
sugar cane juice that people used to make products such as sugar
cane rum and molasses. Take a night trip in a canoe around the
lodge and enjoy the sounds of the forest at night. Night at
Botanical Lodge.
THIRD DAY:
Small town-Night
walk-Camping.
Visit to a small town at the edge of the river, to get to see
the way of life, the culture of bananas, yuccas, and papayas,
among others. Camping night at the jungle sleeping in tents.
Night walk to get to know some basic knowledge of how to survive
in the jungle. Morning Walk. Return to Botanical Lodge
FOURTH DAY - Morning walk-Birdwatching-Yaguas Comunity
Morning walk, bird watching. Breakfast in jungle. Return to the
Lodge. Time to relax at the refreshing swimming pool. Typical
lunch time indicated. Afternoon hike through the jungle to reach
the native community of the Yaguas, know their customs, way of
life, participation of tourists to the use of the blowpipe or
pucuna. Return to the Lodge by boat, recreational fishing on the
banks of the river, in the way we look at the Amazon Sunset.
Time to rest. Dinner. Night at the Botanical Lodge
FIFTH DAY: Tour Anacondas – Return to Iquitos
Get to know the local birds in their natural habitat and take a
ride in canoe near the lodge. Breakfast. We will visit a rescue
center to see the Anacondas, monkeys, ancient jungle turtles,
sloths and others. Return at the lodge. Typical Lunch
self-service. Return to Iquitos city. Transfer to hotel or
airport.
