CUMACEBA LODGE" ECOLOGICAL PRIVATE
RESERVE located 21 miles from Iquitos city. At the shore of the majestic
Amazon River. The Transfer is by speedboat approximately 1 hour down
river.
The construction of the lodge is typical, is designed with a palm roof
and wooden structure, similar to the houses of the early Amazonian
settlers, built without disturbing the jungle. There is a reception
house, hammocks for relaxing, dining room and private bungalows, all of
which are protected with mosquito nets. Each cabin has its own toilet
and shower. In the evening kerosene lamps are used, There is also a bar
where you can try the local drinks, some of which are said to have
aphrodisiac effects! We also have sodas, beer , wine, whisky, rum, Vodka
etc. |

DAY 1: Iquitos – Cumaceba Lodge - Jungle walk.
Reception
at Iquitos airport, short city tour. Transfer to our private
harbor to take our speed boat to visit the floating thatch roof
houses in the district of “Belen”, located on the edge of the
Itaya river,(From November to July) continue traveling down the
Amazon River we arrive at the ecological reserve “Cumaceba Lodge”.
The reception will be with a welcome drink made of a typical
fruit, accommodation in the bungalows with private bathrooms,
typical lunch, a long walk in the primary forest to know and
learn about medicinal plants and the wild life of the reserve.
Dinner and over night in Cumaceba Lodge
DAY 2: Cumaceba Lodge - Bird Watching-Yagua Indian- Small
Zoo.
Early
morning, excursion for bird watching on shansho Cocha. (Hoatzin
Lake) Breakfast. Jungle visit to the Yagua community, observing
typical dresses ( grass skirt) their native language and life
styles. Blowgun demonstration and the way how they hunt in times
gone by, handicrafts commerce or trading. Typical lunch. Amazon
journey to visit a family conservation animal shelter with:
sloths, monkeys, turtles, anacondas and constrictor boas. Grey
and pink river dolphins watching. Night excursion by canoe to
hear rainforest typical sounds.. Dinner. Overnight in cumaceba
Lodge.
DAY 3: Cumaceba Lodge – Monkey Island
Breakfast. Amazon trip to visit a private Monkey Conservation
Project with different endangered species like maquisapa, Choro,
Huapo Negro y Colorado, musmuki, Tocon, Coto Aullador, Pichicos
etc. Lodge return. Overnight in Cumaceba Lodge.
DAY 4: Cumaceba Lodge – Paiches- Lily Pad – Canoeing
Breakfast. Amazon trip to visit a private Arapaima gigas- Paiche
conservation project (The largest fresh- water fish in the
Amazon River.biggest of the Amazon River). Caimans and Victoria
Regia, lily pads. Return to Cumaceba Lodge. Lunch self service.
Tour in canoe with paddle special for Photos. Overnight in
Cumaceba Lodge.
DAY 5. Cumaceba Lodge – Fishing -Iquitos.
Breakfast and canoe ride for piranha fishing (and other species
such as cat fish and sardines). Visit a small village to know
their way of living. After which we will return to Lodge and
have a typical lunch. Back to Iquitos and to the end of your
trip to Cumaceba. Transfer at hotel or airport.

rainforest, day-by-day activities may vary due to local
conditions
